OD Pro Meeting - Reflection – First 100 days as CEO PDF Print E-mail
Whilst it may not be fair, the fact is that the first few months for any CEO may well turn out to be the most crucial time in their tenure. Whilst the CEO is still grasping the challenges of their new role, everyone with an interest in the organisation will start to scrutinise their formal decisions, informal behaviour and symbolic acts as the new CEO. Every move will send messages, establish expectations, and communicate directions for the new leadership group.

With this in mind, the key to success is approaching this crucial time in a systematic way.

We would like to extend an invitation to you to hear first hand how CEO of South Gippsland Shire, Tim Tamlin, approached his first 100 days in ‘office’. In this interactive forum Tim will be reflecting on his experience since commencing in the CEO role on 4th November 2009. Tim will explore and answer questions about his triumphs, challenges and the key lessons he has learnt along the way.

Tim’s appointment to CEO seemed to be a natural step in his career progression. At the age of 25, Tim became the youngest person to have been appointed senior technical officer at the State’s transport department. Nine years later he moved out of State Government when he became CEO of road contractor, RPC Roads. In 2001 he joined the City of Greater Dandenong as a Manager before his promotion to Director of Engineering Services in 2005.

Tim has always understood the value of learning, and is currently completing a Master of Business in Banking and Finance at Monash University.

Tim values the role of Organisation Development. As an OD Professional, this opportunity presents you with a rare insight into the strategies, organisational planning, leadership challenges and issues presented to a CEO during their first 100 days. Tim’s experience will also challenge us to consider the systemic impact a new CEO has on an organisation and leave us questioning what our role can be in the first 100 days aswell!

We look forward to seeing you at this informative and enlightening event to help you gain a first hand perspective from Tim on what it is really like to become the ‘Chief’.
